As you might have noticed, the F.A.B. 5k Team has been in
hibernation this brutal winter in Chicago.
We did get some miles in, but it was not easy to get out
there. This winter left us a bit
battered -along the way, an ACL was torn, an MCL was damaged and a hamstring developed
chronic tendinitis.
We are ready to move on and come out stronger!
We hope you have heard that we are moving this year’s F.A.B.
5k to October. There are a number of
factors that drove us to this decision.
I think the most positive thing that we get from the change is a sense
of ‘freshness’. The F.A.B. 5k is now 5
years old and we want to celebrate this milestone with doing some things a
little different. In addition to turning 5, we have a fundraising target this
year that was unfathomable to us 5 years ago….to date we have raised over
$93,000 for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. With all of your help, we are going to hurdle
well over the six figure mark this year. That is truly incredible and exciting.
The team had our first official planning meeting this past
week. In all honesty, I think we all
were lacking some energy to get motivated for this year (and all for very good
reasons). Spending a focused hour with
the team, I felt some of the F.A.B. 5k Magic come back and I am getting
excited. It is hard work to plan the
race, but getting together this week reminded me how gratifying it is and how
much I love working and spending time with the team. Let’s make #5 the best yet!
